It was Saturday and we were at home waiting for John's family to arrive for a visit. The phone rang. It was Judy Luft. There was a baby firl waiting for us, born just a few hours ago. Were we interested?
Of course! We had waited two years for this call. When John hung up, we were shaking. We couldn't
believe our dream was coming true! When our family arrived, they were just as excited as we wree. John's sister-in-law took us to Target and helped us pick out a car seat, diapers, everything we would need for the first few weeks.

The baby had to stay in the hospital overnight for observation, so we arranged to meet her, her birth mother and Judy at the hospital Sunday morning. The drive to the hospital was nerve-wracking. Would the birth mother like us? Would she take one look at us and change her mind? | When we got there, she spotted us from across the parking lot. She rushed over and hugged us. "What took you guys so long?" she said. In the nursery, we met little Rosa. She was round and red and perfect! We all held her. Rosa's birth mother, already a mom to an 11-year-old, gave us pointers on baby care.
| That day was the best of our lives. Not only did we meet our daughter, but we met Rosa's birth mom, a wonderful woman who is becoming a big part of our lives. Another bonus: Rosa has a birth brother, Michael, who was adopted by another |
Infant of Prague family about one year earlier.
Adoption didn't just bring us a child. It brought new friends and a new richness to our lives. |
