How long is the wait to adopt a child?
Not as long as you may think!

Last year, the average waiting time for our families was less than a year after completion of the homestudy.

There are several factors that can impact your total waiting time:

  • How narrowly you define the child you desire -- the greater your flexibility, the larger the pool of potential adoptive placement situations.
  • Every birthparent has his/her own definition of what makes the perfect family.
  • Many families have shortened the waiting period by personally locating a birth mother who desires to place her child with them.
  • Some families wait longer than others. But parents tell us the wait was worth it because their child is the one they were meant to have.
