When a pregnant woman carries her baby to term, she becomes responsible for two lives. Often in the months following her decision to give birth, she is faced with what can sometimes be the more difficult task of choosing fairly for two lives.

Considering her family’s immediate desires and the babies’ long-term interests.

In a world where nothing is certain and life is more complicated than ever, Infant of Prague is launching Choosing Fairly, a community outreach program for new and expectant mothers. Choosing Fairly provides general support information for all of these mothers … information on the option of adoption options for those who want them … and free adoption services to those who request them.

Last year in this Valley, thousands of women traded their hopes and fragile potential for uncertain lives for themselves and their child because they saw no alternative.

In fact, here in the Valley, we have higher unwed pregnancy, father-support failure and child welfare rates than the rest of California and the nation. We also have extremely low rates of adoption that help continue this cycle. When compared nationally, our Valley adoption rate is among the lowest in the country.

Choosing Fairly presents adoption alternatives only to those mothers who seek them. It offers individual support to help mothers thoughtfully grapple with difficult ‘balancing’ issues. And finally, Choosing Fairly provides free professional help to protect the rights of young mothers and help them move through the adoption system simply and easily.
